Fabulous Fanelli

Sara Fanelli is probably my favourite illustrator. Well known for her experimental children's books for which she has won several international awards, she combines drawings and collages with a strong leaning towards design and typography. Whimsical and incredibly creative.

1000 Journal Project

In August 2000, 'someguy' unleashed 1000 journals on the world. He left them at bus shelters, in cabs, at restaurants and posted some to strangers in other parts of the world. The aim of the project is to document the travels of the journals as they pass on from person to person. Whoever finds a book, makes an entry and then leaves it in a place for someone else to find. Each journal is numbered with a return address. When it's full you post it back to 'someguy'. The first '1000 journals' book has been published. {see Amazon}.

Pop up magic

According to those in the know...pop up books are on the come back. How's this one from Neiman Marcus. At a mere $125 dollars {I think I'll order two}, you get gobsmacking paper magic.

What they have to say!:

'Welcome to the enchanted universe of the Neiman Marcus Pop Up Book. This limited-edition memento follows a young girl's journey through Neiman Marcus from past to present. Our signature butterfly and an over-the-top Christmas make appearances, as well as our world-renowned art collection. This unexpected take on the pop-up book brings surprises on every page. What happens if I pull this? Or flip that? Where will our heroine end up next? The only way to find out is to open the pages!'

Type Oh!

Graig Ward works with type amongst other things. His fonts are incredible as well as his letterpress and wood inlay collages. The font above was created after a visit to his barber. The type collage is of London.

Sean Freeman

Incredible self portrait by Sean based on the ink in water shot. Not sure whether it was created digitally or assembled out of a multitude of photographs. Also love the t-shirt design.
